Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Search - CBR Interviews Gene Yang

It's been a fantastic year for fans of "Avatar: The Last Airbender." Not only did the "Legend of Korra" animated series debuted to near-universal critical and fan acclaim, but Dark Horse continued to up the "Avatar" ante with its graphic novel series "The Promise," which helps fill in the gap between the end of "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and "Legend of Korra." Written by "American Born Chinese" creator Gene Luen Yang with art by Gurihiru Studios, the three-part graphic novel series wraps in September -- but that doesn't mean it's the end of Avatar Aang's adventures.

Blacksad is Back - Guest Blog by Reed Beebe

What’s that?  There’s a fourth Blacksad album? Thanks for the tip.  Excuse me while I put on the trenchcoat and tie.  I have to go out, you see, and find a copy of A Silent Hell

ON SALE THIS WEEK IN REVIEWS

Angel & Faith #11

"If you’ve been reading Buffy but not Angel & Faith, or even if you’re an Angel fan who hasn’t sampled the comics yet, this is as good a  jumping-on point as you’ll get." - Comic Buzz

"Despite these serious and deeper themes, like with the series so far and again reminiscent of the Angel television series, this is a very funny issue.  With all this fun and action amongst so many familiar faces and the promise of most certain and impending danger I seriously can’t wait for the next issue!" - Three If By Space

B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth: Exorcism #1

"Agent Ashley Strode is a character I very much look forward to getting to know and B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth: Exorcism #1 is a great place for her to start. She also makes for an excellent PoV character as one of the few normals that hasn’t been working with the B.P.R.D. for ages, which is where the book really succeeds. We have a few interesting concepts here that should make for a good conclusion soon. With a bit lighter story than normal B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth: Exorcism #1 easily earns itself 4 out of 5 stars." - Major Spoilers

"I think that fans of the series will really enjoy this comic and it’s even worth a look if you are looking for something new to read. I for one have been left wanting more and want to read issue two so that I can see how the story unfolds." - Comic Booked

Fatima: The Blood Spinners #1

"The artwork is quite charming, the story is oddly dynamic, and Fatima’s character is stupidly well developed after only one issue. This is the perfect break from other zombie books because it’s a whole lot of different, combined with the same themes you’ve come to know and love. “Fatima” will find its fair share of followers, and it’s well worth a read." - Bloody Disgusting

"I was very excited to see this book out this week; Hernandez is one of those creators that create when they have something they want to share not because they were offered a job. If you’ve never checked out his work before then I think this series is definitely one of his more accessible series to date. Dark Horse has yet another great series added to its already impressive “Originals” line of books." - Comic Bastards

Resident Alien #2

"Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse have done it again. This second installment of Resident Alien is as good as the first with outstanding graphics and an excellent story line." - Gamer Indepth

"This second issue left me sitting on the edge of seat until next month so I can close out the story. I hope that people are checking it out so that it can possibly go on; the premise and the world built are massive. The alien craze of the 90’s may be over, but books like this can easily rejuvenate people’s interest." - Comic Bastards

Star Wars: Blood Ties—Boba Fett is Dead #3

"Tom Taylor has manged to get me to care about a character that had lost my interest over the years.  Maybe because it’s a chance to see Boba Fett portrayed the way he was back in the 90s when he was kicking ass and taking names.  Maybe because it’s just a fun story that doesn’t have to be any thing other than a damn good Boba Fett tale.  Whatever it is I’m hooked through the first three issues." - Roqoo Depot

"We are now on Issue #3 of this four issue run and the action shows no sign of letting up. This is a good, well written, well drawn and action packed series and I strongly recommend it!" - Word of the Nerd
