ON SALE THIS WEEK IN REVIEWS

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Spike #3

"Spike is a great series for Buffyverse fans, which continues to be one of the strongest franchises in comics." - Comic Book Therapy

"Spike’s sadistic and dark comedic style translates well from the television series to the comic." - Fanboy Nation

Dark Horse Presents #17

"With all the stories and the variety of genres, this is a comics haul all under one roof. This month’s issue has a great looking Carla Speed McNeil cover, and inside’s star looks to be Richard Corben adapting an Edgar Allan Poe story. Beat that, comics!" - Robot 6

"The new series promises to bring even more young and eager creators to the public and possibly bring a whole new age of comics with it. Never scared to take chances, DHP is always on the cutting edge of what's going to be big in comics, and never disappoints." - Fangoria

Ghost #1

"Ghost" #1 is not only a strong first issue, I think it's actually much stronger than the original series that inspired it. DeConnick and Noto are quickly building towards something big, and I for one am dying to see the next installment. Revivals of old concepts seems to be the current rage, and it makes me wish that all of them were as good as this one." - Comic Book Resources

"DeConnick and Noto are doing great stuff here and Ghost looks to be one very interesting series. Count me in." - IGN

Mind MGMT #6

"It's not clear if this is the final issue in this series or if this is just the end of an arc. What an arc it was. The tale ended up being nearly circular is design though it hints at future deviations. Characters behave and evolve in completely natural ways.

Even the conflict, though, in the end was pointless, it still made sense. And the artwork and design is gorgeous. Very non-traditional but utterly perfectly blended to enhance the story. 10/10" - Technorati

"Matt Kindt’s career in comics is just getting started really, but Mind MGMT will forever be a series tied to his name no matter what he works on. Nerds and comic readers will bring him up and someone will say, “Did you read Mind MGMT? It’s amazing” and you know what… they’ll be absolutely correct in that statement." - Comic Bastards

The Untold Tales of Dog Mendonca & Pizzaboy

"The comic book has some great art. Vivid and stylish. The stories, themselves, are rather weird with foreign humor interspersed. However, there is a subtle maturity that is bursting with sadness. A layered story that's not easily dismissed." - Technorati

"What’s really fun about The Untold Tales of Dog Mendonça & Pizzaboy is the way the characters keep breaking down the fourth-wall to address the reader directly. This opens the comic up to some very funny moments (like Mendonça proudly showing off the “big fat check” from Dark Horse comics), but that’s not all. Melo and co. bring in stuff like product placement, and even Dark Horse Publisher Mike Richardson isn’t sacred ground." - GFBRobot
