THE WEEK IN REVIEW

The Black Beetle: No Way Out #4

"As the saying goes, you can't rush perfection. Any tardiness this title experienced is most certainly the result of Francavilla polishing and re-polishing, trying to deliver the very best to his fans. "The Black Beetle: No Way Out" #4 draws this one adventure to a close, but offers hope for more. This conclusion will certainly have fans itching for the further adventures of the Black Beetle." - Comic Book Resources

"In the end, this is a solid issue and finale to the series. Chances are you will be very interested and excited in what's to come. The art is beautiful and the dialogue is fun, even if it is a little bit weak in some parts. Overall though Francavilla writes a very interesting story that will surely grasp the attention of readers from the get-go and only leave them more enthralled and intrigued as the issue progresses." - Comic Vine

Breath of Bones: A Tale of the Golem #1

"Breath of Bones looks to be one of the best comics I will read this year. Based on this first issue, it's a complicated, heartwarming and heart-wrenching story with a depth of feeling I don't see in a lot of comics. It's beautiful." - Comics Bulletin

"Breath of Bones is set to be another stunning miniseries from the folks who do books like this better than anybody, Dark Horse Comics." - IGN

"Steve Niles is known for his work in writing horror, and this story promises to include the monstrous golem of Jewish lore; yet, it is clear there is a much deeper thread these storytellers look to weave into this comic. The only disappointing thing about this comic is the month readers will have to wait for the second issue to arrive" - Newsarama

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 9 #22

"Buffy season 9 is a good adaptation which expands the source material and successfully utilizes the comic medium to tell something different and yet familiar enough for fandom to enjoy. This issue is thrilling as Buffy and her friends battle zen monsters and search for her sister, Dawn." - Unleash the Fanboy

Star Wars #6

"Wood shows readers Leia's ability in this issue to discern when to let others step in and take the lead without brushing her to the side in the process. Needless to say, readers who are enjoying the opportunity to rediscover their love of Star Wars and its cast of characters will not want to miss this issue." - Newsarama

"Brian Wood and Carlos D'Anda wrap up their first Star Wars storyline with plenty more space battles and intrigue." - IGN

The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys #1

"It's official. Buy into the hype. Killjoys #1 is killin' it. The power team of Gerard Way and Becky Cloonan show their chops in both writing and art, entwining their respective talents to create something great. It feels like they're well on their way to building something big, and here's to hoping they can deliver further issues with the same aplomb as they have this one." - Newsarama

"Familiarity with My Chemical Romance's Danger Days album adds a certain depth to the story, but the comic is still a good read without it. It's a testament to Way, Simon, and Cloonan's storytelling ability that the vibrant world of the Killyjoys retains the musical quality of its origins while doing something uniquely refreshing." - IGN

"The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys #1 reads like someelseworlds sequel to the long-forgotten 80s movieThe Legend of Billie Jean, and Way's deliberate and definite style comes through in the dialogue, characters and set pieces of the story. Make no mistake — this debut issue is challenging, but it rewards readers after multiple read thoroughs and gives people a challenge instead of serving up their ideas carte blanche." - iFanboy

X #2

"Imagine if Batman had a Tyler Durden figure: That’s exactly who X would be. Dark Horse’s uber-violent 90s hero is back with a vengeance, and is even more over the top in his judicious dispensation of jaw-breaking justice than ever before, thanks to the grisly scenarios cooked up by Duane Swierczynski and illustrated by Eric Nguyen." - Nerdist

"For a comic named after its character you'd think you'd get a lot more from X, but that's not the point. Clearly Swierczynski wants him to be a force and maybe even a symbol, similar to how Batman is portrayed time and time again. We aren't getting into his head just yet, but that's okay, because the world being crafted is much more important at this stage." - Adventures in Poor Taste
