THE WEEK IN REVIEW

 Astounding Villain House (one-shot)

"I really would love to see some more "Villain House" stories, be they in "Dark Horse Presents," another one-shot, or any other medium. Once you read these stories, I'm pretty sure you'd agree. Wheeler's "Astounding Villain House" is a brilliant bite of dark superheroics, and if we're lucky it will be the first of many. Scoop up a copy, and I bet you'll be singing his praises before long too." - Comic Book Resources

"Wheeler's artistic style is a bit grainy and thick, which makes even the most serious demon look comical. It's a great parody comic that fans of The Tick are sure to love." - Newsarama

Blood Brothers #3

"Mike Gagerman and Andrew Waller have to have their own bromance because their writing for this is amazing and so real. I personally enjoy the way things are put so blunt. It makes the characters feel real and likeable." - Unleash the Fanboy

"The pictures by Evan Shaner are bouncy and colorful. A lot of “playful people getting tossed about and electrocuted” bits." - Adventures in Poor Taste

Captain Midnight #4

"Captain Midnight #4 is great looking, from start to finish. As a pleasant bonus, this issue also happens to be a perfect jumping on point, so get on board, it's worth it." - IGN

"Joshua Williamson is able to flesh out this comic world with the supporting cast and the meet up with Skyman. The artist and colorist give an impressive debut on this series and it's all starting to feel like it's finding its groove. And it should be mentioned there's pretty a crazy cliffhanger ending as well." - Comic Vine

Criminal Macabre: The Eyes of Frankenstein #2

"Criminal Macabre: Eyes of Frankenstein #2 is both fun and entertaining with just the slightest touch of black comedy and gruesome ghouls and creatures. It's the most entertaining monster book on the shelves and Niles and Mitten work so well together in their approach." - Unleash the Fanboy

"The second issue of Criminal Macabre: The Eyes of Frankenstein is even better than the first. We got the set-up out of the way in the first issue, and now it is just Steve Niles and Christopher Mitten playing around with their favorite monsters." - Comics Bulletin

Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven and the Red Death (one-shot)

"Poe and Corben are a perfect blend of two near-perfect artists. And these are some of the best comics of Richard Corben's career." - Comics Bulletin

"If you're in the spirit of Halloween and are looking for a great comic to sit down and read, look no further than this book." - Comic Bastards

Itty Bitty Hellboy #3

"Itty Bitty Hellboy #3 offers another delightful installment of this five part run. Go pick it up today." - Unleash the Fanboy

"I applaud writer/artist Art Baltazar and Franco for their loyalty to the brand and in making a youth oriented book in the style of Tiny Titans and Superman Family Adventures that stays true to its source. I highly recommend this book, especially if you have young children." - Comic Bastards

King Conan: The Hour of the Dragon #6

"Tomas Giorello is the belle of the ball in this series. His furious pencil work leaves every panel with just the right amount of dirt, anger and blood. Every character is scarred and worn. The world looks lived in and dangerous. Jose Villarrubia's incredible colors work perfectly with the detailed art, blending in and enhancing it, but never obscuring the line work. Seriously, this is a stunning comic book, a violent tribute to the world of Conan and something that all comic book fans should be reading." - IGN

"No single contributor gets to take credit for this masterpiece. Everyone's contributions work in perfect harmony to create one of the best modern comics I have seen. Timothy Truman. Tomas Giorello. Jose Villarrubia. Richard Starkings. Gerald Parel. Philip Simon. Hat's off to all of you, and thank you. It's been a privilege to read this." - Comics Bulletin

Star Wars: Dark Times—A Spark Remains #4

"Star Wars: Dark Times – A Spark Remains #4 continues to explore one of my favorite eras in the galaxy, and the team handles it in style. Recommended." - Unleash the Fanboy

"A low key issue without a bunch of action or surprises, but it does deliver one nice punch of drama overall. 4 out of 5!" - Roqoo Depot

The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys #5

"Its been one hell of a ride thanks to killer writing, characters, and style. This is what comic books were designed for. I cant wait to see where the story ends up next month." - Bloody Disgusting

"Another great issue from the Killjoys, giving readers a couple of fun surprises. All of these characters are growing on me." - Culture Mass
