Dark Horse in the Headlines 11/29/10

11/29/2010 10:30am
Welcome back, Dark Horse fans! I hope all of you in the U.S. of A. had a wonderful Thanksgiving break and I hope the rest of you lovely folks from around the globe didn't miss us too much during our holiday break. As we had a shortened week here at Dark Horse HQ, this week's link recap is a bit more modest, but we'll catch up next week!

Now, join me—Dark Horse Publicity Coordinator Jim Gibbons—as we take a trip through the internets. A trip I like to call "Dark Horse… IN THE HEADLINES!"

Conan
Another installment of Dark Horse, USA Today and Toshiba's DH:HD program dropped last week, this time starring Robert E. Howard's Cimmerian barbarian Conan. With a story written by Ron Marz and art by Bart Sears, I think it's safe to say that USA Today's Life section has featured few, if any, more manly men! Go read the entire eight pages of Marz and Sears' "Kiss of the Undead." Adventure is just a click away!

Speaking of the burly, bicep-bound hero… ComicBookResources.com featured a preview of Roy Thomas and Mike Hawthorne's upcoming Conan: Road of Kings. If you thought the pencils looked good, the finished product is gonna floor you like a Cimmerian haymaker!

Corrina Lawson over at Geek Mom recently rediscovered her love for Conan and wrote a great piece about the Cimmerian's comic history and her experience with it! Part review and part reminiscence, but wholly rave, here's a quick sampling of Ms. Lawson's excellent story…
"After immersing myself in the new Conan stories for the past week, I can safely say that I'm in love with the Barbarian all over again… The books are full of beautifully rendered sword fights and battles, but I especially loved the shadings that artist Cary Nord puts into the scenes. Twilight is gray, night is full of shadows with intermittent light, the recesses of a dark canyon are appropriately full of darkened death. I can’t imagine the action looking any better. It practically jumps off the page."
Lastly, Newsarama reviewed the final issue of Conan the Cimmerian
"While far from an introspective read, this final issue does what barbarians do best—it is some beautifully rendered, non-stop action that'll get your blood pumping through pure pulp."
