We've got a special treat for you Guild fans! Before you pick up The Guild: Vork One-Shot we've got a special guest blog post by the one and only Jeff Lewis--Vork himself!

vork guild Over the last five or so years working on The Guild, I've been known to use the phrase, "if you'd told me ten years ago that i would be (blank), I would have called you a liar and hit you in the face". For example, if you'd told me ten years ago that I would be dressed in a Human Warrior costume complete with sword and get to rap in a music video, I would have called you a liar and hit you in the face. Or if you'd told me I'd go to conventions and sign autographs for people waiting in line, I would've called you a liar and hit you in the face. So many incredible things have happened to me in my involvement with The Guild. It's hard to believe sometimes.

Well, co-writing a comic book about my character is no exception. Despite the fact that it does confirm that I am, in truth, very, very bald, it's still amazing to see my mug in full color in a comic book. Not many people can lay claim to this fact. Certainly not any of the kids that beat me up at Jewish overnight summer camp and nicknamed me "Mule piss" . It's very satisfying. And co-writing the issue with Felicia Day was like finding another fellow soldier during the battle at the Alamo, minus the Alamo, the killing, Davy Crockett and Texas's struggle for independence. So basically, just the hooking up with someone who appreciates and shares your sensibility and runs with it. But most importantly, if there's one thing that we share, it's the idea that a script has to be about something. It has to have a story and it has to have an emotional connection.

I know I make fun of Felicia, but it was great to work with her. She's fun, funny, and she almost never breaks down and cries between the hours of 1:30 pm and 1:45 pm. And she always orders out. And of course, there's always a little time put aside for Xbox play. But the greatest gift Felicia has given me is to play the character of Vork, a man who is part me but many parts not, thankfully. I've immensely enjoyed playing him. Like the Dungeons and Dragons dice he may have used in his youth, Vork has many sides to him. And I get to play them all. The anger; the crying; the rare moments of joy. And everyone has found something they can relate to in him. But mostly, they've just found him funny. And all that is a credit to Felicia's writing.

Not bad for the dirty whore that she is.
