I'm Dark Horse Publicity Coordinator Jim Gibbons and this is Dark Horse in the Headlines. Let's take a look at last week's news…

Buffy
As Season 8 came to a close and Buffy turned 30 (in pop culture years, not continuity years), news sources from near and far shined the spotlight on the heroine that changed the face of television.

-CNN caught up with Buffy fans, as well as show and Season 8 writer Jane Espenson, Season 8 editor and writer Scott Allie and Season 8 artist Georges Jeanty to talk about the impact of Buffy on pop culture and female fandom.

-Entertainment Weekly spoke with Joss Whedon about the end of Buffy's eighth season, and the creator dropped some interesting hints about the upcoming Season 9.

-NPR, Wired's Geek Dad blog, IGN and MTV Geek all took a look back at Season 8.

-Reviews of issue #40 of Buffy ran on IGN, Newsarama and ComicBookResources.com, as well. "In one issue, Joss Whedon has conveyed not only the entire point of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, but the importance and brilliance of Buffy herself," Newsarama said. "Whedon's focused storytelling was complimented by Georges Jeanty's gorgeous artwork. The faces Jeanty draws for all these characters will break your heart. And Jo Chen’s beautiful cover? That just might make you cry. Kudos to Whedon, Jeanty, Dark Horse and Scott Allie for a brilliant end to this 'season' of Buffy. Can't wait for Season 9 this summer!"

-In other Buffy news, iFanboy highlighted issue #40's cover, Geek Dad reviewed the Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Tales hardcover and Season 8 was nominated for a GLAAD award for Outstanding Comic Book!

Axe Cop
After being highlighted on Amazon's Movers and Shakers list, the Nicolle Brothers' awesome an imaginative comic series was reviewed by Amazon's Omnivoracious blog ("Axe Cop is about as inspiring as comics can be.") and on BoingBoing.net ("There are plenty of comics artists who've tried to recreate the unbridled exuberance of a hyperactive kid's imagination, but this is the real deal."). Definitely a good week for the axe-wielding boy in blue! MTV Geek even interviewed Ethan Nicolle about the upcoming three-issue series Axe Cop: Bad Guy Earth, so go check that out as well!

Finder
Carla Speed McNeil's celebrated series is coming to Dark Horse and the creator spoke about her two upcoming books with CBR last week. A preview of Finder: Voice can be seen at CBR, as well as over at Publishers Weekly. This is one of the year's most talked about titles for some real comics tastemakers, so go get your first peek at it today!

Mass Effect
Our new Mass Effect series, Evolution, came out last week. IGN enjoyed it ("The issue moves at a brisk pace, never lingering on scenes for too long but devoting enough time and dialogue to keep readers hooked and guessing as to what will happen next."), but it was Mass Effect: Genesis that really made headlines. USA Today, Joystiq and Comics Alliance all wrote up pieces on the comic catch-up for PS3 players who want to jump in to Mass Effect 2 and still understand the story of the original Mass Effect. Very nice to see people latching on to the idea of hybrid comics/video game storytelling!

B.P.R.D.
Both CBR and Comics Bulletin had great things to say about B.P.R.D. Hell on Earth: Gods #1, but B.P.R.D. fans should really make sure to check out CBR's interview with Scott Allie about the upcoming Liz Sherman-centric B.P.R.D.: The Dead Remembered as well as MTV Geek's column about how they'd love to see a Casanova/B.P.R.D. crossover. Fun reads!

Dark Horse Promotions
Excellent editorial staff members Savage Sierra Hahn and Dastardly Dave Marshall got bumped up a well-deserved professional notch last week. The Beat and CBR posted stories about the news. Congrats, guys!

Interviews, Previews and Reviews
-CBR gave readers a first peek at John Severin's interiors on Witchfinder: Lost and Gone Forever #1!

-About.com spoke with John Jackson Miller about Star Wars: Knight Errant.

-Electric Playground showcased a video interview with Dr. McNinja creator Chris Hastings.

-Mania.com reviewed both Creepy Archives Vol. 8 and Boris Karloff's Tales of Mystery Vol. 4.

-ComicAttack.net took a look at Conan: Road of Kings #2.

That's it for this week, friendos! Thanks, as always, for checking in! Head back next week for more DH-related news. Same horse time, same horse channel!
