The new roles are effective immediately. Please join us in congratulating these Dark Horse employees on their well-deserved promotions!

Spencer Cushing, Editor

Spencer Cushing holds a bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing from The University of Puget Sound. Spencer started his career in publishing as an intern at Hawthorne Books in Portland, OR in 2008. Spencer later joined Dark Horse Comics and went on a winding path through various jobs until he achieved the humbling opportunity to help insanely talented writers and artists share their delightful fictions. He’s had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects from Briggs Land to New Deal to Ei8ht to True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, but he has a special appreciation for the sweltering richness of Alabaster. Spencer is currently working on Halo, The Battles of Bridget Lee, ElfQuest, and many more projects still in the pipeline. Keep your eyes peeled for some big upcoming announcements!

Shantel LaRocque, Editor

Shantel LaRocque graduated from Western Washington University with a degree in Creative Writing and broke into the comics industry working with Space Goat Productions. In 2012, she began at Dark Horse Comics as an assistant editor contributing to titles such as B.P.R.D., Hellboy, Fight Club 2, Kabuki, and The Goon. After her promotion to Associate Editor in 2015, Shantel began to focus more on her love of younger reader and YA comics editing. She's worked on exciting projects such as Soupy Leaves Home, Zodiac Starforce, Spell on Wheels, Henchgirl, Bandette, and many more. Shantel is excited to continue growing the line of younger reader comics and graphic novels for Dark Horse in her new role as Editor, working on both creator-owned and licensed projects.

Ian Tucker, Editor

Ian Tucker entered the publishing industry in 2010 after negotiating a career in print technology into a position with the Dark Horse digital art department. He transferred to the editorial department in 2012 where, as an Assistant Editor, he contributed to such exciting projects as The Art of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, The World of The Witcher, and The Art of the Uncharted Trilogy. Having acquired a taste for editing art books and a promotion to Associate Editor in 2015, Ian edited The Art of Rick and Morty, The Art of Metal Gear Solid V, The Art of Doom, The Art of Mass Effect Andromeda, and many others. As an Editor, he is thrilled to continue working with Dark Horse's expert staff as they add to an already prodigious line of brilliant art books.
