"This tie-in captures the spooky spirit of the show, Stranger Things, in creepy-cool comics format. Your chance to see the events of the first season through the eyes of Will Byers! Follow him, lost and lonely, into the terrible Upside Down… and see how he managed to cope in the monstrous dark..." -Alison, Digital Art Technician

"I love all different kinds of horror, and from page one Conspiracy of Ravens catapulted to the top of my favorites list! If there were a horror equivalent of a "cozy mystery," this would be it. But the protagonists are not your typical magical girls: when one of them discovers a family secret wrapped in magic,  four very different young women come together to discover their true potential. But of course, there are baddies who want that power for themselves, and they're not who anyone expected! Curl up on a stormy night with a blanket and some hot cocoa to enjoy this distinctly magical gothic horror for all ages!" -Jenny, Assistant Editor

"Harrow County is a perfect amalgamation of the horror genre at its best, as the conflicts and scares come from every direction. Following Emmy from the start of her journey to the all to satisfying end was one of the most rewarding and at times chilling pieces of fiction of the last decade. Also, Tyler Crook’s lush watercolor artwork is a sight to behold, as images from every issue will stick with you for days after reading." -Brett, Assistant Editor

"I am a Hero is my favorite new manga series we've got here at Dark Horse! I'm not a zombie fiend, but the story of the struggles of these fairly ordinary Tokyo denizens dealing with a global pandemic of disease and mayhem that kills and resurrects people as "ZQNs", and the mystery surrounding their origins and weaknesses grabbed me within a few pages and has sustained my interest across multiple volumes. it's grim, sad, sick, gory, funny, and - somehow - hopeful! " -Jemiah, Proofreader

*Stand-in for Jemiah is the amazing Halloween Totoro!

"Mr. Higgins Comes Home by Mike Mignola and Warwick Johnson-Cadwell is the perfect Halloween read if you’re looking for a fresh vampire tale, a talking goat, a Walpurgisnacht masquerade, and a story that’s as scary as it is fun." -Katii, Editor

"Four very different teens with similarly strange pasts enlisted at a school for the occult sounds like something you’ve seen before. But Evan Dorkin’s take on the occult and the mystery surrounding the students at Blackwood College makes his newest series unique. It’s anchored in familiar concepts that will pull at the nostalgic heart strings of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Harry Potter fans, but the darker and weirder direction will remind those same fans that they’re adults now and Blackwood College is DEFINITELY not Hogwarts. I’m also obsessed with Veronica and Andy Fish’s artwork. They have a 70’s inspired style and a color palette that strikes a high contrast balance between dark and nearly neon bright colors that reminds me of classic horror comics from the EC Archives. So if you’re looking for something 80% fresh and new with 20% brilliant nostalgia that’s genuinely weird and scary, Blackwood is perfect this Halloween." -Dustin, PR Coordinator

"If you enjoy mysteries of the supernatural and the occult, horror blended with humor, dogs and cats and beautiful artwork—then Beasts of Burden is for you. The original series by Evan Dorkin and Jill Thompson had me at the very first story I read back in the Dark Horse Book of Hauntings. In those tales, readers follow a pack of younger dogs (and their feline colleagues) who are learning how to handle the occult threats facing their town of Burden Hill. Their mentors, elder experts in the occult, are called the Wise Dogs. They’re not the focus of the series, though.

Now, Dorkin is joined by artist Benjamin Dewey on the series Beasts of Burden: Wise Dogs and Eldritch Men, which introduces us to the Wise Dogs themselves. Older, more experienced, and yes, wiser than their impulsive younger counterparts, the Wise Dogs face a powerful new supernatural threat that challenges even their considerable talents. This series expands the fascinating world that Dorkin has been building.

Each animal has a distinct personality, from the tough and tenacious Scottish terrier to the impulsive and determined pit bull. Dewey’s expressive linework is a perfect fit for this comic (check out his work on Autumnlands and the ongoing Tragedy Series, too, if you’re not familiar with him). Evan Dorkin's writing in Beasts of Burden is a blend of occult horror (note: they do not shy away from death and gore in Beasts), mystery, and humor shown through the relatable reactions and personalities of the canine (and feline) characters. Talented guest artists provide variant covers for this miniseries, including Tyler Crook, Rafael Albuquerque, Dustin Nguyen, and Jill Thompson herself.

I could go on, but the short of it is, Beasts of Burden: Wise Dogs and Eldritch Men is one of my top picks for Halloween and any other time of year." -Cara, Social Media Strategist
