Now, Dark Horse Manga brings H.P. Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness masterfully adapted by Gou Tanabe to Western audiences this spring.
January 25, 1931: an expedition team arrived at a deserted Antarctic campsite. What they find chills them to the bone. A crew of men and sled dogs strewn about dead and disfigured. Some are hideously mangled while some have been dissected in a methodical, cold-blooded manner. All the more disturbing is a star-shaped mound of snow nearby—and what lies beneath.
At the Mountains of Madness is a journey into the core of Lovecraft’s mythos through the deep caverns of an inhospitable continent that preserves the secret history of our planet among the ruins of its first civilization—a civilization built by the alien "Elder Things" aeons ago.
Gou Tanabe’s previous H.P. Lovecraft’s The Hound was nominated for a 2018 Eisner Award, and he continues his breathtaking work in H.P. Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness. The novel-length story will be published in two double-sized manga volumes of over 300 pages each.
