Devin Grayson and Cecil Castellucci Celebrate Earth Day and More in a Livestreamed Virtual Event

Presented by Dark Horse and Berger Books: Join Writers Devin Grayson and Cecil Castellucci in a Talk About Climate Change, Our Planet, and Possible Futures
From two celebrated writers come two distinctive stories, both exploring the dramatic themes of our environment, the impacts of climate change, and the responsibility of the human race. Dark Horse is pleased to present Cecil Castellucci (Shifting Earth) and Devin Grayson (Rewild) in conversation on their original graphic novels from the Berger Books imprint.
Join us on Friday, April 29 at 1 pm Pacific/4 pm Eastern for a livestreamed discussion and fan Q&A. This virtual event will be presented on the Dark Horse Comics Twitch and YouTube channels. If you can't watch live, the recording will be available afterwards to watch on demand.
The creators will discuss their inspirations, the process of creating comics with their collaborators, and the environmental themes that fuel both stories. While the virtual event takes place on Arbor Day itself, the creators have selected many organizations and charities you can support any day of the year--see them listed below.
About the Books: Rewild and Shifting Earth
Rewild, written by Grayson with art by Yana Adamovic and letters by Sal Cipriano, explores environmentalism through a lens of magical realism. It's available now from both comic shops and bookstores.
Fables meets The Fisher King in this new original graphic novel. Borrowing from the rich history of fairy tales and magic realism, the story sets two troubled young adults in a fictional New England city against a band of furious, pollution-ravaged fae intent on reconnecting humanity to the natural world--or removing them from the equation forever.
Demond and Poe find themselves questioning not only their own sanity, but the rationality of our entire species as they struggle to save their city--and maybe even the world. Lyrical, moving, and urgent, Rewild is one of the first graphic novels to venture into the burgeoning genre of Cli-Fi.
The upcoming Shifting Earth, written by Castellucci with art by Flavia Biondi, colors by Fabiana Mascolo, and letters by Steve Wands, features a science-fiction setting while also exploring the impacts of climate change. It's available for pre-order now, and will arrive this June in comic shops, July in bookstores.
In a not-so-distant future, a freak particle storm has landed botanist Dr. Maeve Millay on an idyllic yet strange parallel Earth, with no way home. But just like her own climate- ravaged planet, this verdant Earth has a sinister side, which astronomer Zuzi battles every day. Both women are fighters, and both face a choice: forge new paths, or save the worlds they've always known?
