Where Hell Meets Heavy Metal

New comic, The Roadie, is an action-packed horror series that takes you on a journey of heavy metal proportions. This is the epic saga of a former heavy metal roadie who must return to his old career as an exorcist in order to rescue his daughter.

Written by Tim Seeley with line art and colors by Fran Galan and letters by El Torres, The Roadie tells a dark tale filled with nostalgia, heavy metal music, hell, and redemption. And now, the team has created a music playlist to get you ready--issue #1 arrives September 28!

The Roadie Issue #1 Playlist – Listen on Spotify

1). Motley Crue - Looks that Kill: This story is obviously firmly rooted in a certain time, place and aesthetic, and I think the Crüe epitomizes that the most. "Shout at the Devil" might be more on-point thematically, but "Looks" always sounded grimier and sexier to me.

2). Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast: Okay, if we're gonna do our "hell" song, this is the one for this playlist. Maiden always skirted the edges of glam 80s metal, remaining just a touch too British and too political to go all the way. This is a rippin' tune about...werewolves? Monsters? Satan? Sure. All of it.

3). Fastway - After Midnight: Is this the band who did the soundtrack for the Metal Horror film "Trick or Treat?" Why yes. And this story is certainly a heavy metal horror movie in its own way.

4). Love & Rockets - Haunted when the minutes drag: Chosen in part because it came out at the height of hair metal, and so distinctively WAS NOT, but also because it's genuinely creepy. Also, because a big theme of this series is the loss of time.

5). Johnny Cash - Flesh n' Blood: A good, all-American country song about a guy realizing he needs humanity, which, hey, I'm nothing if always on theme.

6). Lil Nas X - Montero (Call me by your name): Q: A modern rap song? What now?! A: If you ask me, no one is continuing the tradition of pissing off uptight America like Lil Nas X. The video for this song features a gay lap dance on Satan's lap. 'Nuff said!

7). Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - We Came Along This Road: End credits song! A sad, on-the-run song by my all-time favorite crooner.
