Watch 'Hellboy: The Fury' Motion Comics For FREE

Dark Horse returned this week with another free motion comic, and this time they are bringing Mike Mognola’s infamous Hellboy series to life. “Hellboy: The Fury” is part of Dark Horse’s initiative, in partnership with Felicia Day’s Geek & Sundry YouTube channel, to deliver brand new motion comics that re-imagine some of their classic works. If you’ve never read the comics, this is a particularly good introduction for two reasons. First, it’s free. Second, you don’t actually have to read.

Mignola Transforms The Vampires of "BPRD" on CBR!

Mike Mignola has always loved the undead. The cartoonist behind Dark Horse's popular "Hellboy" and "B.P.R.D." franchises first took vampires to the page adapting one of his favorite books "Dracula" in the early '90s through the lens of the Francis Ford Coppola film.

Steve Rude and Mike Baron talk Nexus on Newsarama

After years floating in the void of space and the uneasy hiatus after its last self-published issue in 2009, the space-faring superhero Nexus returned in this week’s Dark Horse Presents #12. Created by Mike Baron and Steve Rude in the early 1980s, the character has racked up over a hundred issues of his series between four different publishers, but now it has a permanent home at Dark Horse.

Harvey Award Winner Matt Kindt on Mind MGMT

ComicBook.com talked with Matt Kindt about the launch of his brand new series, Mind MGMT!

Kindt talked not only about the series itself, but about its role in a larger attempt on his part to woo trade-waiters back into the comic shops using exclusive content and other “special features” in the single-issue printbooks that will not appear anywhere else.

Dark Horse Presents #12

"Dark Horse Presents #12 may be the most impressive yet of Dark Horse Comics' already prestigious anthology series. The new issue is an almost ridiculous who's who of my favorite comics creators and characters including: Mike Baron & Steve Rude (new Nexus!), Dean Motter (new Mister X!), John Layman and Sam Kieth (new Aliens!), plus prose by Harlan Ellison illustrated by Richard Corben and continuing work by Carla Speed McNeil, Francesco Francavilla Evan Dorkin & Sarah Dyer, John Arcudi & Richard Case, Steve Niles & Christopher Mitten, Tim Seeley & Victor Drujiniu, and Mike Russell."  - Comics Alliance

"Dark Horse Presents is a title that I perpetually feel should be a blockbuster seller in today’s comics industry. It offers up so much of what readers say they want; an anthology of different types of stories, with a mixture of old and new creators bringing their A-game to the page. With this latest issue, I think it’s as good a sign as any on how well the series has settled into its format, and finding just the right material for everyone to enjoy something." - Read About Comics

The Guild: Fawkes

"Ultimately, Fawkes’ one-shot is a solid entry into the Dark Horse series. It’s full of witty but not alienating show references and remains accessible to anyone who has never seen the show or read a “Guild” comic before, as all good stories about characters ultimately are. The Guild has always made a good comic book, and the Fawkes one-shot doesn’t end that winning streak any bit." - Multiversity

"The Guild: Fawkes provides fans with a glimpse into the life of the show’s coolest villain. The story adds unnecessary, but much appreciated, depth to a character that was previously just an evil asshole. He still is. But he’s our evil asshole. This comic stands as my favorite Guild comic release outside of the original three-issue miniseries. All Guild fans should give this issue a read." - Geeks of Doom

Mind MGMT #1

"5 Star Review.  I pick up quite a number of monthly series and I keep telling myself that I need to cut back on the large quantity I bring back home from the local comic shop. But, with all that, Matt Kindt's Mind MGMT has got me for the long haul. If you are a fan of mysteries, if you are a fan of Kindt, if you are a fan of comics: pick this up! But, more importantly, if you have been waiting for the trades and do not see the value in picking up a comic on a monthly basis anymore, do yourself a favor and give Mind MGMT #1 a shot. It very well could be the book that makes you want to go back to the comic shop." - Comics Bulletin

"This book is something special. The story has so much potential and longevity that I see it going on for years. Add the fact that Kindt is writing the story's history on the front and back cover and you’re getting a heck of a package. Do not miss out on this book! I know I praise everything “Indie”, but this book is going to be one of those titles that breaks that labeling and will be enjoyed by all comic readers as long as they're willing to give it one issue to hook them. Let this be that issue.  5/5" - Comic Bastards

"I would love to see more books like Kindt's "Mind Mgmt" at places like Dark Horse. Though I'm sure books like this are risky and don't get as much high-profile attention, the quality is simply sublime." - Comic Book Resources

Orchid #7

"I know each month I rave about this comic and I’m happy to say that this month will be no different, but it is completely justified! This issue was spectacular…As with each issue, the art is amazing and captures everything perfectly. I think I might go out on a limb and say this issue was the best yet. It really gave the reader some deep insight into the story thus far as well as where the story is headed. Get inspired, read this comic!" - BAMFAS

"If you’ve been following this series, you already know that this issue was going to be explosive, and it won’t disappoint!" - Comic Book Newbie

Ragemoor #3

"Horror fanatics looking to revisit their childhood days of black and white comics with spooky monsters and mansions absolutely must check out Ragemoor. This is far different from most major comics out there, as it strays from the pop culture love affair with the undead, and ventures into the realm of gothic unease." - Bloody Disgusting

"Overall, this issue provides symbolism more often than new information, leaving me wondering how the story will be wrapped up in only one more issue; however, Strnad has succeeded in surprising me with each installment, so I trust that the story is heading for a satisfying (if almost assuredly unhappy) conclusion." - Fanboy Comics

Resident Alien #1

"I'm thrilled to finally see the return of "Resident Alien." Those three chapters may have originally run back in the fall, but it says a lot that I've been looking forward to its return since then. Because of its position in the story it's not the flashiest of comics, but it's solid entertainment, and I'm definitely going to read the remaining two issues. All in all, good stuff." - Comic Book Resources

"What a unique book. That’s the thought I can’t shake after readingResident Alien #1. I quite enjoyed issue #0, which collects the Dark Horse Presents material this series comes from, but Hogan and Parkhouse really brought their “A” game for issue #1…This is one of those great creative pairings: Hogan and Parkhouse are in sync on Resident Alien and the reader gets to reap the reward of their hard work." - Comicosity

Star Wars: Darth Vader and the Ghost Prison #1

"I really enjoyed this issue. Haden Blackman’s writing is top notch here. Agustin Alessio’s art does a good job of setting this book apart from the others on the shelf, but still feeling like Star Wars. They have crafted a story of an idealistic cadet being tested on his first day, not only by his own physical limitations, but by his bonds of friendship and his sense of duty and honor." - EU Cantina

"In all, I can definitively say that this is the best Star Wars comic that I’ve read in quite a while, minor artistic shortcomings aside." - IGN
