Out this week is our second manga by Satoshi Kon: Seraphim 266613336 Wings. This book is doubly special because it is a collaboration between Kon and Ghost in the Shell’s Mamoru Oshii; I can’t think of a comparative example where two such talented film directors worked together on a manga.

Seraphim is the co-creation not only of Satoshi Kon but of Ghost in the Shell director Mamoru Oshii, and I can’t think of another case where two such talented anime directors collaborated on a manga. Seraphim contains two afterwords, one by the original Japanese editor of the manga, and one by the editor of the Dark Horse version, that explain the unique history behind Seraphim.

Satoshi Kon wrote and drew OPUS in 1995-96, when he was preparing to make his first movie, and it resonates with his trademark themes of reality, fantasy, perception, and the role of the creator. Dark Horse takes pride in being able to publish the best comics creators in the world, and it’s a great privilege to say that this week, we can add Satoshi Kon’s OPUS to our library. Add it to yours!
