THE WEEK IN REVIEW

Captain Midnight #3

"Captain Midnight #3 is an absolutely enjoyable book that deserves to be on any fanboys or fangirls pull-list this Wednesday. Simply put: take flight and have some fun because this comes highly recommended." - Unleash the Fanboy

"The more I read of this series, the more I want. With the slight reveal we get here, you'll want to know more. I didn't know anything about Captain Midnight before this series and it's great seeing this character come to life in this series." - Comic Vine

Criminal Macabre: The Eyes of Frankenstein #1

"Aside from the evolved story-telling apparent in this latest installment, this was one of the best looking Criminal Macabre books from recent arcs. If you have enjoyed these characters in the past, now is a great time to jump back into Cals world because things just got a whole lot better." - All Comic

"Instead of being dark and foreboding, "Criminal Macabre: The Eyes of Frankenstein" #1 is vibrant and entertaining, like the "Beyond Belief" segment of "Thrilling Adventure Hour." Unlike "Thrilling Adventure Hour," however, this series features a little more blue language, which humanizes the protagonist all the more despite his ghoulish claims. After finishing this issue, I wish I could have all four parts of this story for a light-hearted read while waiting to hand out candy to this year's trick-or-treaters." - Comic Book Resources

Dark Horse Presents #28

"If you’re a fan of classic anthology shows like The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, or Alfred Hitchcock Presents, then Dark Horse Presents is the book for you." - Unleash the Fanboy

"Dark Horse Presents #28 is full of great works by A-list writers. Highlights include The Strain, Trekker and Nosferatu Wars. Weighing in at 84 pages and for only $7.99, you can’t get a better deal." - The Outhouse

Empowered Special: Nine Beers with Ninjette

"One thing that these specials always manage to do is make me want more of this series. I still have plenty to catch up on, but I would love to have more of this series each month and I know I'm not alone. If you've never read it before or even heard of it before then check it out. It's a great series and this issue definitely gives you a place to start." - Comic Bastards

" I’d say that if you found yourself intrigued by the recap of the Empowered universe in the first paragraph you would be best served by reading the first OGN volume. If you’re already a regular Empowered reader then Nine Beers serves as an interesting look into the origin of one of the series best characters." - The Outhouse

Itty Bitty Hellboy #2

"ITTY BITTY HELLBOY is bite-sized, adorable HELLBOY fun for all ages. I'm loving it as an all-readers series, and it's making me even more certain that Art and Franco need to take on every property in comics. Making a family-friendly book that stays faithful to the original source material is no small feat, and their passion for well-made all-ages comics and the Mignolaverse is the opposite of a Squatch (easy to see!)." - Comic Vine

"Every praise from last month holds water, and for that there really isn't much more to say. This is, without a doubt, the miniseries of the year. Or, at the very least, my favorite indie book I've been given to review for the site." - Comic Bastards

King Conan: The Hour of the Dragon #5

"One of the best things about King Conan: Hour of the Dragon is that it is defying the odds. Most comics have their best sales with issue #1, followed by a slow decline. Sales are actually increasing with Hour of the Dragon as word of mouth gets out about what an amazing series this is. I hope that upward trend continues and Truman, Giorello, and Villarrubia are rewarded with more Conan work in the future." - Comics Bulletin

"King Conan: The Hour of the Dragon #5 is a rip-roaring success story that's sure to get you pumped for the rest of this mini-series. Highly recommended." - Unleash the Fanboy

Mass Effect: Foundation #3

"There is an interesting turn made with the mention of Shepard in this issue, and while the story focuses on another familiar face, this is a series that really tells fans how close this is going to be to the gaming franchise. The book looks great, reads well and is a great addition to the catalog of the series. How this series plays into other major events in the game." - Digital Noob

Mind Mgmt #15

"MIND MGMT" #15 is another strong issue from a typically strong comic series. Kindt continues to spin a huge and intricate web, and this installment is no exception to that. "Where are we going?" is as much a question as, "Where have we been?" in "MIND MGMT," but the only answer that get for certain is, "A really fun ride." "MIND MGMT" is the kind of conspiracy thriller that I can wholeheartedly buy into." - Comic Book Resources

"I would easily give this issue a 6 / 5 stars if the rating system allowed -If not solely for the fact that it brilliantly bridged the gaps between so many different past issues – but more than that – it answered countless questions, checked so many boxes, and inspired so much awe." - Unleash the Fanboy

Star Wars: Legacy #7

"Star Wars: Legacy #7 continues to prove the strength of this new volume. So grab your lightsaber and your blaster kids, it's time to go Sith hunting. Recommended." - Unleash the Fanboy

"If you like well balanced action and exposition I can’t see how you wouldn’t like this issue. There’s advancement of plot for all characters too, and while the spider chase does feel like your stereotypical George Lucas action sequence for action’s sake, it’s fun and new. You can’t say that with most comics." - Adventures in Poor Taste
